Home Sweet Home: Beginning the final month
The Frisco RoughRiders return home today on a two-game winning streak to begin the final month of the 2013 regular season and are looking to improve on their recent home struggles.
Frisco took to the road last week after having lost three games, including two straight shut outs, at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The ‘Riders continued to skid in their first three games in San Antonio against the Missions, going 38 consecutive scoreless innings and three straight shutout defeats. Odubel Herrera ended that streak, however, with an RBI double in the fourth inning on Friday. Frisco’s six-game losing streak ended Sunday when the ‘Riders scored seven unanswered runs against the Missions to avoid the sweep.
The ‘Riders then traveled to West Texas for three games against the RockHounds. After dropping game one in Midland, Frisco’s offense came alive on Tuesday, defeating the ‘Hounds 11-6. Rangers pitcher and RoughRiders alum Matt Harrison began his rehab Wednesday as the ‘Riders won 2-1 to take the series. This was Frisco’s first series win since the beginning of July.
The RoughRiders also announced today a list of roster moves as they ready themselves for this four-game home stand that will feature outings from Rangers rehabbers Colby Lewis and Matt Harrison. Carlos Pimentel has been promoted to Triple-A Round Rock and the RoughRiders received five players from the Advanced-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans: righthanded pitchers Jon Edwards, Luke Jackson, and Francisco Mendoza as well as infielders Rougned Odor and Luis Sardinas. Four players have been transferred from Frisco to Myrtle Beach: Hanser Alberto, Odubel Herrera, Nick McBride and Kevin Pucetas.
These are the matchups we expect to see on the mound for the upcoming two series:
Saturday: RHP Colby Lewis (0-1, 8.31 ERA) vs RHP Juan Oramas (0-2, 4.58 ERA)
Sunday: LHP Matt Harrison (2-2, 3.24 ERA) vs RHP Keyvius Sampson (9-4, 2.43 ERA)

Baseball term of the day: Death valley – a particularly deep outfield area in a ballpark. Because of the depth, it is more difficult to hit home runs.
