Midland evened the series with Frisco Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 win. The RockHounds scored all their runs in the third inning of a quirky game at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The ‘Riders rallied and scored twice in the eighth, but fell short. Click here to read the full game recap.
Tomás Telis started at third base and the ‘Riders dropped three popups in the mid-afternoon sun, one of which led to a run for the RockHounds.
Midland’s Max Muncy left the game after he was hit by a throw on a slide into second base. Another moratorium occurred when Muncy’s teammate, Josh Whitaker, jogged out of right field with a nose bleed.
In the fifth inning, Patrick Cantwell reached third base on a strikeout. Cantwell swung at a wild pitch, the throw to first base by Midland catcher Blake Forsythe went down the line and the right fielder Whitaker misplayed the ball.
On a positive note, Ryan Rua extended his on-base streak to 27 games with an RBI single in the eighth. It is the second-longest such streak in Minor League Baseball this season.
The ‘Riders will try and regain the series lead on Monday night against the RockHounds. Coverage starts at 6:40 p.m. on www.ridersbaseball.com.
