Frisco clinched their third straight series at Dr Pepper Ballpark with a 12-7 win over the Midland RockHounds on Tuesday afternoon. It was the second 11:05 a.m. start of the season for the ‘Riders, who moved to 2-0 in games that tip before noon.
The RoughRiders also became the first team in the Texas League to reach the 20-win mark in 2104 and reclaimed the top spot in the south division from the RockHounds. Click here to read the full game recap.
Joe Saunders joined Matt Harrison on the list of Texas Rangers to make a rehab appearance at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The lefty received plenty of run support early as the ‘Riders charged to a 9-1 lead after two innings.
Still, Midland once again proved a pesky opponent to put away. With the wind blowing strongly to left field, the RockHounds gophered five balls out of the park (two against Saunders, three against Luke Jackson). Fortunately for Frisco, all five shots were of the solo variety. The game may have been much more interesting had additional runs crossed on any of Midland’s homers.
The game did not feel out of reach for the Hounds until Rougned Odor pulled a double into right field to score a pair of runs and put the horsemen up 12-7.
After the team enjoyed its first off day in three weeks on Wednesday, the ‘Riders start the second half of their eight-game homestand on Thursday against Corpus Christi. Coverage starts 6:40 p.m. on www.ridersbaseball.com.
Enjoy the highlights and thanks for tuning in.
