True Grit, Part II

Miss the last RoughRiders game? Catch up on the action or relive the highlights with ‘Riders Rewind, a daily capsule of yesterday’s big moments. Listen to previous editions of ‘Riders Rewind here.

Earlier this season, we titled a blog post “True Grit” because it embodied the RoughRiders’ efforts in a 3-2 win over Springfield. Click here to read the full game recap.

Star of the Game: 2B Odubel Herrera – 3/4, R

Odubel scored his 24th run for the RoughRiders this season. The southpaw has hits in 21 of his last 24 games and in 16 of his last 33, Odubel has knocked multiple base hits.

In case you missed it:

-The Hooks committed four errors in the game, including three in a two-inning period. As a result, the ‘Riders scored two unearned runs to tie the game at 2-2 and then take the lead for good in the seventh inning.

-As bad as the infield played for Corpus Christi, its outfield was excellent and registered two outfield assists in the first inning. Both resulted in outs at the plate to keep the RoughRiders off the board early.

-Corpus Christi again outhit Frisco 8-6.

-A throwing error on catcher J.T. Wise in the eighth inning broke a streak of four games without an error for Frisco’s defense. It was the team’s longest stretch of the season.

-Speedster Delino DeShields, Jr., who ranks second in the Texas League with 41 stolen bases, cracked his first triple of the season in the fifth.

-Gallo watch: 0-for-4, 3SO

Joey is now three for his last 29 at the dish with 16 strikeouts. His last home run with the ‘Riders came on July 7 and he has not hit a long ball at Dr Pepper Ballpark since June 28.

Thanks for tuning in,

-Chris V.
